NEW “Westport Adirondack Chair - Revised Woodworking Plans”

The NEW "Westport Adirondack Chair - Revised" Woodworking Plans is a updated design of the first Adirondack Chair: the "Westport", created in 1903, by Thomas Lee. The characteristics of the 1903 version is a single back chair with an inclined seat and wide arms.  Designer, Jack Briscoe's 2011 version of the Westport, has a triangle theme and he has incorporated modern day joinery.  He used pocket-screw joinery, which involves drilling a hole at an angle into one board and then joining it to a second board with a self-tapping wood screw.  Pocket hole joinery has become the new standard for strong, precise wood construction.  Also in the construction of the chair he used wooden biscuits. An oval-shaped, highly-dried and compressed wooden biscuit, (usually beech), is covered with glue which expands the biscuit, further improving a bond that is often stronger that the wood itself.  Biscuits also has become the new standard for strong, precise wood construction.

The plans come with Step-by-Step Instructions, Detailed Illustrations and the best of all: Full Size Templates. You don't have to spend hours to re-draw the plans from a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper that you downloaded from the internet.  The Chair measures 35" W x 32" D x 35" H.

Jack Briscoe has been designing Award Winning woodworking plans and craft plans for the past 20 years.  It all started back in 1990 with a small display ad in a woodworking magazine.  Today, he sells his woodworking plans to woodworkers all over the world.  They can be found on the Internet, Woodworking Catalogs, Tool Catalogs, Craft Catalogs, as well as retail stores throughout the United States and in Canada.

Wine Barrel Funtiture Woodworking Plans

The Wine Barrel Furniture is handcrafted from recycled oak wine barrels and good old fashioned craftiness.  Gold Country Woodworks, Wine Barrel Adirondack Chairs” is one of the most comfortable chairs you'll ever sit in.  Jack Briscoe, the Award Winning designer, tells us that his Wine Barrel Adirondack Chairs design enables you to “Relax in Comfort”, because of the lower curved back and the deep curved contoured seat your body to actually mold to the chair. The chair provides maximum comfort combined with a high back design that creates a chair that is truly a joy to sit in.

One of the first things you will notice during construction of the Green, Ergonomic Wine Barrel Furniture is the very pleasant aroma of the wine from the barrel. But, once the construction is completed and you seal the chair the aroma will dissipate.

The Wine Barrel Furniture is so very easy to build that even a novice woodworker will have no problems in construction.  The woodworking plans contain Step-by-Step Instructions, Detailed Illustrations, and best of all, Full Size Templates, so you won’t have to redraw the plans from a 8 1/2" x 11" plans that you downloaded from the internet.

Everyone who builds the chair has a very enjoyable woodworking experience.  One of the first things you will notice is the very pleasant smell of the wine from the barrel.  You’ll also notice that there is very little cutting.  There are a total of 25 Staves that are used in the construction of the chair, yet you only cut 6 of the Staves at first.  Then when the chair is finished, you will cut the ends off another 10 Staves.  For more information go to http://www.gcwoodworks.com/Wine-Barrel-Adirondack-Chair-Large.htm

Color to Dye For

Instead of buying expensive pre-mixed stains to color your projects, try using Rit dye instead. This water-based dye is available in the laundry section of most grocery stores. It comes in a variety of colors, which can be mixed to suite your project. Experiment with a piece of scrap until you get the color and intensity you desire.

Proper Lubrication for Tools and our NEW Outdoor Folding Chair Wood Plans

Proper Lubrication Woodworking Tip
When lubricating the moving parts of woodworking tools, less is better. Apply just one or two drops of oil to most joints. If you apply too much, the excess oil will mix with sawdust and make an abrasive goo that causes moving parts to wear faster. In dusty areas, you may want to use dry lubricants, such as silicone or graphite, to prevent this from happening.

Cleaning Saw Blades & Civil War Camp Chair Wood Plans

Cleaning Saw Blades & Other Steel Tools

Use coal oil to clean rusted tools. Soak in pure coal oil over night, in the morning scrub lightly with a non steel scrubber. The coal oil leaves a protective film on the tools.

Baby-Sitter Woodworking Plans

Pot Magnet

When working with nails, screws, etc. - anything magnetic, especially on top of a ladder or in an otherwise awkward place, I have a "Pot Magnet" affixed to a wristlet made of Ace bandage ON MY RIGHT wrist (I am right-handed - if you are a leftie put it on your left wrist). This holds the pesky "small magnetic items" handy to pick up with you OTHER hand for driving with hammer or screwdriver or cordless drill or whatever. Sticking them on the magnet also magnetizes them slightly, so that screws, especially, tend to stick to the phillips-head or square drive driver bit. Also, you aren't digging into your pocket and stabbing your fingers on the points - which are sharp enough in your pocket, but somehow become miraculously dulled on the trip to the wall or whatever they are to be driven into...

Baby Sitter Woodworking Plans... All it Takes Is Just A Flip And A Twist!

 Rocking Horse
High Chair
Desk

Space can be a problem when you only have room for one piece of baby furniture, but you need three pieces. To solve this problem we designed the Baby-Sitter. With just a twist and a flip, the Baby-Sitter, turns into a Rocking Horse, a Desk and Seat, or a High Chair. The Baby-Sitter is three chairs in one and is both functional and fashionable. This will surely become a treasured heirloom that will be handed down from generation to generation. By request we have designed a Teddy Bear Sitter; Plan No. 201. It's half the size of the Baby-Sitter that's just right for your child's Teddy Bear or Doll.

Installing Drawer Fronts

On European-style cabinets and other pieces with separate drawer fronts, install the doors and drawer boxes first. Then, once the doors are adjusted properly, install the drawer fronts to match. Put double-sided carpet tape on the fronts of the drawer boxes, and position of the drawer faces. Once you have them stuck on, in the right positions, slide the drawers open and screw the faces on from inside.

Woodworking Tips, Wood Plans and Color to Dye For

Color to Dye For

Instead of buying expensive pre-mixed stains to color your projects, try using Rit dye instead. This water-based dye is available in the laundry section of most grocery stores. It comes in a variety of colors, which can be mixed to suite your project. Experiment with a piece of scrap until you get the color and intensity you desire.

Woodworking Tips and Award Winning Woodworking Plans

Colored putty sticks are handy for filling nail holes, but they sometimes get hard with age and become difficult to use.  When this happens, I soften the stick before using it by immersing an end in very hot water for about a minute.  Don't submerge too much of the stick, or it will get too soft for you to hold properly.

Woodworking Tips and Woodworking Plans

Woodworking Tips and Woodworking Plans

Old Mouse Pad

Hey, Don't throw away that old mouse pad! When cut to size and glued with silicone or shoe goop, or stapled to a board it makes an excellent pusher! (You may need to remove the mouse surface material first.) Cut them up to various sizes and use them all over the place. I've even cut them to fit a wooden mallet to eliminate marring. Glue them to old clamps, as well as jigs to hold wood pieces in place. Try them, they work great!
